Grand Tetons From a Distance

This drive was unorthodox as we are used to seeing the Grand Tetons from Jackson Hole, which is only about 5 miles from Grand Teton National Park.

The Grand Tetons Facing East towards Jackson Hole

This time, our caravan was 6 cars and trucks, loaded up from my buds house in Pocatell (yea those guys again) and we were headed north, way north. Goal to get to Big Sky by night.

As usually we drifted, stopping often and swapping seats and groups. Which is not unorthodox but the stop just outside Rigby, Idaho was a little out of the ordinary. One of the girls’ car was acting up — she said — as the air conditioner cycled in and out and the car was overheating.

We all pulled over on a side road that turned out to be a driveway at a ranch just outside Rigby. As we checked her car (spoiler nothing found just needed a rest) a couple on horseback came over a small hill to greet us.

Local hospitality we chatted for about an hour, with the peaks of the Grand Tetons on the horizon. The sun slowly set, and we all loaded back up, heading back north with a wave to the nice couple from Rigby.

Thoughts vary, mostly talk about skiing, snowboarding, and surfing. My first account lost, reposting here. Favorite spots are Vail, Jackson Hole, and Las Vegas.
