Fresh air and powder at Jackson hole

At 49 degrees Fahrenheit there is no need to wear a jacket. North Face sweater, Burton pants, new Seirus gloves, and my Smith Holt helmet is all that is needed this crisp morning.

After quick oatmeal and smoothie breakfast I’m out the door, headed for the slopes at Jackson hole.

The air up here in Jackson, Utah is the some of the freshest in the country. So easy to breathe, even in the altitude at the top of Rendezvous at 10,450 ft.

I’m by myself today, the team has its day off and we are free to explore.

I breathe deeply on the first lift of the day (Sweetwater Gondola to Casper Quad) and plan my route. I see Sundog run with a soft thin layer of fresh powder and I scout my path — after Sundog my favorite run Jackson Face. The sun, just breaking over the peaks, causes the powder to sparkle like something three glitter over the slopes. I’m pretty pumped.

So far it does not look crowded. This is the best. As I get off the lift I turn right/left, strap myself in and almost immediately shoot left. It’s going to be a great day.
